To be a winner in a scholarship selection process, you have to beat other competitors. But, how do you do this? There is not a shorcut way of doing this, but the following tips may help.
First of all, study the scholarship policies for applicants coming from your country. Thing to look for here is to see how many people are awarded with the scholarship from year to year. How many people applied for the said number of awardees? You can narrow this based on study level, for example, for undergraduate, postgraduate, master, doctoral, etc. There may also be a geographical groupings which determines that applicants coming from a particular region will not compete with those from the other regions. And sex grouping (more and more scholarship schemes are giving more preferences to women). Or social background of applicants (minor- versus normal-represented people in society).
Now, of course, you have got clue why doing this is important. In which category will you be competing? What is your chance? Look for the number of applicant against the number of awardees, and you will have a rough approximation about your chances of winning that scholarship.
